Here I am sitting at my computer with dogs at my feet wondering how in the world another incredible couple wandered into our life. Seriously, yesterday was nothing short of adventurous with Mia and Kiel!
When we first met last summer at a South Edmonton Starbucks, I knew June 29, 2019 was going to be a day for the books. These two are the definition of adventure. Their entire wedding was themed around their love of travel, family and connection!
We started the day off at Private Practice Studio where the girls put on their finishing touches. From the hair to the makeup and everything in between – they all looked like a dream! One of my favorite parts of the morning was watching a big yellow school bus pull up to grab the girls and take them to the ceremony. What a unique alternative to a traditional limousine!
We made our way out to Hastings Lake Gardens for their ceremony. This is one of Edmonton’s most sought after wedding ceremony venues and it did not disappoint! The sun was shining throughout their entire ceremony as Mia and Kiel said their I-Do’s in front of family and friends from near and far.
After a set of photos at Hastings Lake Gardens, we took off in the school bus and headed to South Cooking Lake to grab some snacks, beer and for another set of photos. To our surprise a massive thunderstorm rolled through – but it was no match for this insanely fun bridal party! We popped open the clear umbrellas we had in our car and danced in the rain.
Their reception was filled with personal touches like Swedish desserts and travel moments. There was an overwhelming sense of “home” in Boonie Doon Hall last night. While and her bridesmaids were half a world away from their home in Sweden, they sure made it feel like they never left! Two of Mia’s bridesmaids came out for a special version of ABBA’s “Mama Mia,” wearing traditional Swedish attire. Mia had no idea and was totally over the moon with excitement!
We didn’t get the juicy orange sunset, but that was OK. We went around the corner to fire off some smoke bombs for an epic set of photos and were met with… you guessed it… MORE RAIN! Mia looked at me and said “you know what, this is my grandma. She always told me that rain on my wedding day would mean good luck.” It seriously only started when we were outside trying to take photos, and I don’t think that was just a coincidence!
One of my favorite photos from this wedding is right at the bottom of this gallery, so make sure you scroll to the end. Kiel’s love of music and DJ-ing actually had him up on stage mixing for his friends! Music is a huge part of their lives and it was so cool to see him up there in his element! Mia went up and stole a quick kiss and it was the perfect end to a perfect day.
Congratulations to you both! Thank you for choosing us <3
