Yesterday marked the start of our 2019 wedding season and we could not be happier to have shared our day with Caitlin, Kevin and their closest family and friends! It was our first time photographing at the Matrix Hotel and we loved the modern boutique feel in the rooms, the lobby and the wedding space.
We started the day off hanging out with Caitlin in her suite as Bailey with Below Hair Studio worked her magic. Caitlin’s hair and makeup looked unbelievable! After wrapping up hair and makeup, Caitlin slipped into her gorgeous Bridal Boutique gown. She finished her look with super practical flats (I’m a HUGE fan of brides in flats – hello functionality), and a heirloom necklace gifted down from her grandma. Watching her dad clasp such a special piece around her neck before heading down the aisle was a really special moment to witness.
As per usual on the groom’s side, Kevin and his boys were relaxing waiting for the main event! We spent a few moments together photographing his details and laughing about the night prior. It sounded like celebrations were in full swing!
The ceremony was officiated by Vincent Liu. I was pleasantly surprised to see Vincent as he was the officiant for one of my past wedding clients. I was also delighted to learn that Caitlin and Kevin had a special tie to Vincent as they first met at a wedding he officiated as well! I have to say – Caitlin and Kevin picked a unique, upbeat set of songs to come down the aisle to! The whole wedding party danced their way down the aisle – it was the perfect precursor for their light-hearted ceremony.
After the ceremony and family photos in the lobby, the bridal party hopped in their chariot provided by Platinum Limosuines and headed to our first photo location, Borden Park. Now, it’s been a few years since I last visited Borden Park and we had a great time exploring all of it’s new additions. After wrapping up at our first location, we headed to the Muttart Conservatory grounds to capture a classic Edmonton backdrop.
The Matrix Hotel served an incredible plated dinner to the guests. Seriously – it was amazing! Dinner was followed by a yummy donut wall and some serious moves on the dance floor fueled by Dan with Baseline DJ !
Caitlin and Kevin – thank you. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It means the world that you chose us, in a sea of photographers, to capture these special moments for you. We wish you many years of happiness together and hope you enjoy these little sneek peeks from your wedding day!
